Family Programme: A Journey of Healing Together
Recovery from addiction is not a journey taken alone. It is a journey that deeply impacts the entire family. When a loved one struggles with addiction, the pain ripples through to the people who care about them the most. While the harm caused is rarely intentional, addiction can lead to actions and words that wound, pushing loved ones away in an attempt to mask pain. Whether it is family or couples therapy, Sivana Bali aims to bring support systems together and heal old wounds.
Family Therapy
As important as family is in this journey, our primary concern must first be about the client. For the client, it must be about themselves. They must not worry about anything back home and only focus on the program and themselves. All clients need to learn to love themselves before they can love others.
In the first stages of the program, families have the option to write a Letter of Consequence. This is an opportunity to express the hurt, sadness and struggles addiction has caused, not only for the family but for the clients themselves. This has proven to be a very powerful tool in helping our clients understand, identify, and own the situation.
Psychoeducation
Family members can be an integral part of treatment. While the client is in Sivana, families are given time for processing and learning more about the process of addiction and recovery. Clinical staff take the time to see to it that family members who would like to participate in the treatment process are equipped with the appropriate tools to manage themselves and support someone in recovery. When needed, they are referred to mental health professionals and additional support groups like Al-Anon that they can continue to attend when their loved one completes treatment.
Rebuilding Relationships
Toward the final stage of treatment, families are invited to reconnect, either in person or via a video call. This is where clients can share their progress and together with their loved ones, set boundaries and future goals for a healthier future. It’s an opportunity to offer support and, in some cases, start the long but hopeful road to rebuilding trust.
Aftercare Programme
Aftercare is an important part of the therapeutic process due to the nature of addiction. Recovery is not only about not using substances or engaging in the addiction, it is about sustaining the lifestyle change that the treatment process has established. Sivana Bali is committed to seeing through the change that they have helped clients establish after they leave the centre.
Exit Planning and Relapse Prevention
Your journey doesn’t end when our program does. Working with our Clinical team, you will develop a comprehensive exit and relapse prevention plan, to equip you with the tools and resources you need to stay strong and to rediscover a life worth living.
Where possible, we will connect you with health services, mental health support, and community resources, including financial planning, parenting support, relationship counselling, employment assistance, and legal services.
Remake Your Life Today
Addiction can be a lonely and isolated road where many lose sight of the joy and beauty that life can bring. Through the therapeutic process of Sivana Bali we can help you slowly rediscover your passion and purpose. Recovery can be challenging but it is worth fighting for. Not only for yourself, but for the people around you who are waiting for you.
