What is LSD?

Lysergic acid diethylamide, better known as LSD or ‘acid’, is a powerful, mind-altering substance renowned for its capacity to distort reality and produce hallucinations, such as seeing sounds and hearing colours. LSD is part of a broader class of drugs known as hallucinogens, which work by disrupting the regular communication between the nerve cells and serotonin in the brain.

How is LSD Used?

LSD is typically consumed orally and is often sold on small squares of blotter paper soaked in the drug. These squares, or ‘tabs’, are placed on the tongue, and the LSD is absorbed through the mucous membranes. The effects usually begin within 30 to 90 minutes and last up to 12 hours.

Less commonly, LSD can also be found in liquid form, in thin squares of gelatin (‘window panes’), or even coated on sugar cubes. The drug’s powerful hallucinogenic effects are the same regardless of its form. The impact of LSD varies significantly between individuals. It can be influenced by factors such as the dose taken, the user’s mental state, and the environment in which it is used.

At Sivana Bali, we recognise the unique challenges that LSD use can present. Our comprehensive inpatient treatment programme is designed to support you through every recovery step with a holistic, person-centred approach.

Why Rehab Is Important for LSD Abuse

Recovery from LSD involves addressing the underlying emotional and psychological challenges. At Sivana Bali, we create a supportive and welcoming environment where clients can focus entirely on their healing for long-term recovery.

Is LSD Addictive?

Although LSD does not lead to physical addiction in the same way that substances like opioids or alcohol do, it can result in psychological dependence. Repeated abuse can lead to tolerance, which means that higher doses are needed to achieve the same effects. In addition, frequent use of LSD may lead to acid flashbacks or hallucinogen-persisting perception disorder (HPPD), where individuals re-experience aspects of their trips without retaking the drug.

A Comprehensive Approach to LSD Recovery

Navigating the path to recovery from LSD misuse often requires a comprehensive approach that addresses these psychological and emotional challenges. This is where a rehab centre like Sivana Bali comes into play. Our holistic approach ensures clients can access the necessary psychological support while learning healthier coping mechanisms. In our treatment centre, you’ll be in a safe, controlled environment where you can focus entirely on your recovery journey.
